SECTION 31-42-9

   § 31-42-9  Unidentifiable motor vehiclesand/or parts. – Notwithstanding the age of a motor vehicle and/or part from which allidentifying numbers have been removed so that the identity of the motor vehicleand/or part and its owner cannot be determined, the motor vehicle and/or partshall be subject to a forfeiture hearing before a judge sitting in the districtcourt. After this hearing, the motor vehicle and/or part shall be forfeited tothe unit of government that recovered it. The court may also order the divisionof motor vehicles to issue a special vehicle identification number and anappropriate title certificate for a forfeited motor vehicle.
