SECTION 31-6-5

   § 31-6-5  Reduced fees for portion of year.– (a) If an application for registration of any motor vehicle, trailer, orsemi-trailer shall be made in the first quarter of the year appropriate to theindividual's registration expiration, or in the second quarter or the thirdquarter in any year, the fee for registration shall be three-fourths ( 3/4),two-fourths ( 2/4), or one-fourth ( 1/4) respectively of the fee required for afull year.

   (b) The provisions of this section shall not apply in thecase of the registration of motor vehicles used for racing, or for motorvehicles, trailers, or semi-trailers owned by any department or agency of thestate of Rhode Island, or by any city, town, or district of this state.
