SECTION 34-13-5

   § 34-13-5  Index of instruments recorded.– (a) It shall be the duty of the clerk or recorder of deeds of each city andtown within the state to make and keep a separate alphabetical general index ofall deeds, mortgages, and other instruments recorded in the office of the cityor town clerk or recorder of deeds, which indices shall refer to the book andpage of the records wherein the deeds, mortgages, and other instruments arerecorded. Mortgage discharges and assignments of mortgage shall be indexedunder the names of all parties to the original mortgage instrument and allsubsequent assignees of parties to the original instrument.

   (b) The provisions of §§ 45-13-7 – 45-13-10shall not apply to this section.
