§ 36-4-61 - Persons with disabilities – Special list of eligibles.

SECTION 36-4-61

   § 36-4-61  Persons with disabilities –Special list of eligibles. – (a) The personnel administrator is authorized and empowered to prepare withoutexamination special lists of eligible persons who have a severe physical and/ormental impairment and who are certified by the department of human services asbeing so impaired, capable, and adequately trained to qualify for an entrancelevel class of positions in the classified service. The administrator, in hisor her discretion, may fix the maximum number of persons who may be placed onthe special lists of eligibles.

   (b) In order to qualify for permanent appointment to theclassified service under subsection (a) of this section the person with adisability must:

   (1) Have a severe physical and/or mental impairment orcombination of impairments which resulted in an inability to obtain permanentemployment under competitive rules;

   (2) Have successfully demonstrated an ability to do a jobunder temporary appointment, for a period of five (5) months prior to theirappointment to probationary status in the classified service; and

   (3) Meet minimum qualification standards for the class ofpositions.
