SECTION 36-6-21

   § 36-6-21  Mass transportation and fringebenefit program deductions. – The state controller is hereby authorized and directed to make appropriatesalary deductions, effective January 1, 2008, and to adopt appropriateprovisions to allow state officers and employees the option to exclude employeecommuting costs incurred from the purchase of RIPTA commuting passes fromtaxable wages and compensation, consistent with section 132 of title 26, UnitedStates Code, not to exceed the maximum level allowed by law (26 U.S.C. §132(f)(2). RIPTA is hereby authorized and directed to cooperate with the statecontroller in developing provisions to implement this section.
