SECTION 36-8-5

   § 36-8-5  Vacancies on board. – If, for any reason whatsoever, there shall be a vacancy in the office of anappointed member of the board the appointing authority shall appoint asuccessor within seventy (70) days for the balance of the vacated term;provided, however, that all gubernatorial and general treasurer appointmentsmade under this section after the effective date of this act [July 4,2006] shall be subject to the advice and consent of the senate. If, forany reason whatsoever, there shall be a vacancy in the office of an electedmember of the board the seat shall be filled by a new election of therespective group within seventy (70) days for the balance of the vacated term.
