§ 37-22-6 - Powers and duties of the board.

SECTION 37-22-6

   § 37-22-6  Powers and duties of the board.– (a) The board is hereby authorized and directed to entertain, solicit,evaluate, negotiate, execute, administer and enforce comprehensive agreementsfor the redevelopment of the project area by and through privately-fundedqualifying projects in recognition of and consistent with the plan. The statedepartment of transportation shall develop a legal description of this propertyfor the board. Upon completion of the legal description, custody, control andsupervision of the underlying property shall be transferred to the board and acertificate shall be filed with the secretary of state notwithstanding therequirements of §§ 37-7-6 and 37-7-7. The board shall then beauthorized to sell, lease and/or enter into public-private initiativeagreements with regard to this property notwithstanding the requirements of§ 37-7-1 et seq.

   (b) If comprehensive agreements are entered into pursuant tothe provisions of this chapter, the board is hereby authorized and directed toexpedite the consideration and issuance of permits and approvals necessary fordevelopment, construction, and operation of qualifying projects.

   (c) The board is hereby authorized and directed to administerand enforce all comprehensive agreements entered into pursuant to theprovisions of this chapter.

   (d) The board shall annually submit a written report of allits activities to the Governor, the General Assembly, and the Mayor and CityCouncil of Providence.
