SECTION 39-12-8

   § 39-12-8  Declaration of public interestin contract carriers. – It is hereby declared that the business of contract carrier, as defined in thischapter, is affected with the public interest, and that the safety and welfareof the public upon the public highways within this state, the preservation andmaintenance of the highways, and the proper regulation of common carriers usinghighways require the regulation of contract carriers to the extent provided inthis chapter.
