SECTION 39-7-12

   § 39-7-12  Catwalks and handrails onbridges. – Every railroad corporation or railroad company operating a railroad within thisstate shall on and after September 1, 1993, maintain and construct a handrailand catwalk on each railroad bridge and/or trestle which is constructed orrenovated for use by the railroad. The handrail and catwalk shall extend thefull length of the bridge or trestle. Every railroad which shall violate theprovisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be finednot more than one thousand dollars ($1,000). Each violation of this sectionshall be a separate offense. Notwithstanding any provision of law to thecontrary, a violation of this section shall be classified as a misdemeanor.
