   § 42-102-3  Officers. – (a) The position of chairperson shall be unpaid and the individual that isappointed chairperson shall serve a three (3) year term. The governor mayreappoint the individual appointed chairperson to serve another three (3) yearterm. The council shall elect from its own members a vice-chairperson, who isauthorized to preside over meetings in the absence of the chairperson.

   (b) Executive director. The council, in consultationwith the governor, shall appoint an executive director who shall serve at thepleasure of the council, provided that the executive director's initialengagement by the council shall be for a period of not more than three (3)years. The position of executive director shall be in the unclassified serviceof the state and he or she shall serve as the chief executive officer of thecouncil.
