SECTION 42-107-1

   § 42-107-1  Commission established. –There shall be an American and Portuguese cultural exchange commission toconsist of nine (9) members, all of whom shall be American citizens descendedfrom Portuguese ancestry and residents of the state, three (3) of whom shall beappointed by the speaker of the house of representatives, three (3) of whomshall be appointed by the president of the senate and three (3) of whom shallbe appointed by the governor. The commission shall establish, maintain, anddevelop cultural ties between Portuguese and American people; foster a specialinterest in the historical and cultural background of both groups, as well asthe social and artistic life of the countries involved.
