SECTION 42-109-3

   § 42-109-3  Duties of permanent legislativeoversight commission on substance abuse prevention. – The permanent legislative oversight commission on substance abuse preventionestablished pursuant to the provisions of § 16-21.2-9 shall provideoversight on the implementation and administration of this chapter and shalladvise and make recommendations to the general assembly as to the adequacy andefficiency of all statutes, rules, regulations, guidelines, practices, andprograms relating to substance abuse prevention. Members of the commissionshall serve without compensation, except that they shall be allowed theiractual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties underthis chapter. The commission may request and shall receive from anyinstrumentality of the state, including the division of substance abuse of thedepartment of mental health, retardation, and hospitals and from anymunicipality or any instrumentality of a municipality, any information andassistance it deems necessary for the proper execution of its powers and dutiesunder this chapter.
