§ 42-26-13.2 - Duties and responsibilities of committee. - Rhode Island Statutes

SECTION 42-26-13.2

   § 42-26-13.2  Duties and responsibilitiesof committee. – The committee shall have the following duties and responsibilities:

   (1) Establish goals or projections annually, based on ananalysis of past activity, for each component of the criminal justice system;set capacities for each secure facility; and incorporate inmate populationlimits set by court order, consent decree or otherwise, as may be amended fromtime to time.

   (2) Monitor closely the compliance of each component of thecriminal justice system with its established annual goals or projections.

   (3) Coordinate, monitor and evaluate the implementation ofsystemic improvements and intermediate sanctions as may be recommended andadopted by the committee from time to time.

   (4) Coordinate and oversee such remedial measures as may beneeded to address and reduce overcrowding at the adult correctionalinstitutions, including, but not limited to, construction of additional prisonbeds.
