SECTION 42-28-47

   § 42-28-47  Stolen or fire damaged vehiclereport forms. – (a) The state police shall draft a uniform statewide report form to be utilizedby all the police departments in the state when a motor vehicle is reportedstolen or is damaged by fire. Once drafted, the report shall be made availableto the several police departments within the state. Every owner of a motorvehicle which is stolen or damaged by fire shall be required to complete thestandardized report form according to the instructions contained therein uponthe request of any police department within the state. Any person willfullyfailing to complete and submit a report form as required by this section may befined one hundred dollars ($100).

   (b) No payment shall be made by an insurer for loss or damageto an insured's vehicle until the insured has filed a report in conformity withthe provisions of this section and the insurer has within thirty (30) daysreceived said report and determined that there is no fraud involved.
