SECTION 42-29-18
§ 42-29-18 Power to investigate andprosecute offenses. – The sheriff of any county may, whenever any offense shall have been committedin his or her county, investigate the same and apprehend and bring to justicethe person or persons committing such offense, and may make complaint in behalfof the state against such person or persons and may prosecute said complaint tofinal conviction.
