§ 42-62-18 - Designation of responsibilities.

SECTION 42-62-18

   § 42-62-18  Designation ofresponsibilities. – (a) To the extent not otherwise designated in this chapter, the governor maydesignate a department as having responsibility for the implementation of aspecific duty required by this chapter. The governor shall report thatdesignation to the general assembly no later than the following year, and eachhouse of the general assembly shall have thirty (30) days within which todisapprove any of the designated delegations and to substitute by passage ofnew legislation different delegations.

   (b) To the extent that existing health-related functionswithin departments or divisions need to be removed to another department forthe purposes of more efficient administration, or to the extent that newdivisions need to be established to meet the purposes of this chapter, thegovernor shall make the determinations and shall include the determinationswithin his or her report to the general assembly.
