SECTION 45-10-12

   § 45-10-12  Withholding of funds due townsfailing to file reports. – Whenever any town or city fails to file a duplicate copy of the audit report asrequired in § 45-10-5 within the time required by that section, or files areport that does not fully comply with the requirements of §§ 45-10-5and 45-10-6, or fails to provide the notice of engagement of accountant oraccountants as required by § 45-10-8 within the time required by thatsection, the state director of revenue shall immediately, with the concurrenceof the auditor general, notify the treasurer and the town or city clerk of thetown or city and the general treasurer of that fact, and the general treasurershall withhold any and all payments of money due or that may become due to thetown or city during the period that the town or city fails to comply with theprovisions of §§ 45-10-4 – 45-10-8.
