SECTION 45-21-14.1

   § 45-21-14.1  City or town council service.– Service as a member of any city or town council in excess of six (6) months inany one year constitutes one full retirement credit year; provided, that anyperson who was elected to membership on a city or town council at a specialelection or was appointed to a city or town council to fill an unexpired term,is entitled to receive service credit for the full year during which thatperson was elected or appointed if the person has served as a member of thecouncil during any part of the year.
