   § 45-31.2-7  Assurance of availability ofstandard housing. – Whenever the acquisition of real property for a program or project undertakenby a relocation agency results in the displacement of any person on or afterJanuary 2, 1972, the agency shall assure that, within a reasonable period oftime, prior to displacement, there will be available, in areas not generallyless desirable in regard to public utilities and public and commercialfacilities, and at rents or prices within the financial means of the familiesand individuals displaced, decent, safe, and sanitary dwellings equal in numberto the number of and available to those displaced persons who require thosedwellings and reasonably accessible to their places of employment; except thatregulations issued pursuant to § 45-31.2-8 may prescribe situations whenthese assurances may be waived.
