§ 45-32-41 - Proration of property tax.

SECTION 45-32-41

   § 45-32-41  Proration of property tax.– Notwithstanding the provisions of any other statute enacted before April 2,1956, all taxes assessed against any real property acquired by the agency inaccordance with the provisions of this chapter may be prorated in the followingmanner:

   The owner of record on the date of assessment is responsiblefor the payment of those taxes from the date of assessment to the date of thetaking of the property, and payment by the owner of record of those taxesallocable from the date of assessment to the date the agency acquires the realproperty, plus the payment of any other assessment constituting a lien on theproperty taken, discharges and releases the owner on the date of assessmentfrom further liability with respect to taxes assessed against the real propertytaken, and thereafter the agency shall be responsible for the payment of thosetaxes.
