SECTION 45-4-5

   § 45-4-5  Certificate of election of clerk.– The mayor of every city and the president of every town council shall, as soonas possible after the election of city or town clerk, send to the secretary ofstate a certificate of the election of the city or town clerk, whichcertificate shall be kept on file in the office of the secretary of state.
