§ 45-49-4 - Transportation.
SECTION 45-49-4
§ 45-49-4 Transportation. – (a) Any school district may elect to provide transportation to any childattending grades kindergarten through grade eight (8), between the school thechild attends and a before or after school licensed child care location. Schooldistricts which elect to provide transportation between schools and licensedchild care locations are eligible to receive state reimbursement fortransportation under the state school aid program. School districts shallpromulgate policies and procedures to govern any transportation program whichthey elect to provide.
(b) The department of elementary and secondary educationshall urge all local school districts to ascertain the numbers of theirstudents going to after school child care programs and investigate thefeasibility of transporting children to licensed or certified child careproviders within their district and within their established busing policy.
