SECTION 45-5-14

   § 45-5-14  Subpoena of witnesses. –Every town council, city council, school committee, or any committee of any ofthese bodies, may, by their presiding officers, issue subpoenas to witnesses totestify in any manner pending before them, may administer oaths to thesewitnesses, may compel their attendance, and may punish them for nonattendanceby a fine not exceeding twenty dollars ($20.00).
