SECTION 45-8-6

   § 45-8-6  Appointment and powers of deputy.– Town treasurers may, by and with the approval of the town council, appoint adeputy whenever the appointment is necessary, and the deputy so appointed hasall the powers and can perform all the duties which are incumbent on the towntreasurer, being qualified by taking the oath of office; provided, that in nocase shall the deputy have the power to sign the bonds, notes, or otherevidences of indebtedness of the town, except with the approval of the towncouncil.
