SECTION 46-16-1.1

   § 46-16-1.1  Reaffirmation of support.– This state reaffirms its support of the cooperative approach to the abatementand control of water pollution as embodied in the New England Interstate WaterPollution Control Compact. In view of the increases in populationconcentrations, the growing need of industry and agriculture for water ofreasonable quality, and the quality requirements of water based recreation andother uses, the New England interstate water pollution control commission shalldevelop and maintain its programs, including research on water qualityproblems, at such levels, including, to the extent necessary, levels abovethose originally provided when this state first enacted the compact, as may beappropriate.
