SECTION 46-23-4.1

   § 46-23-4.1  The commissioner of coastalresources management. – The council shall engage a commissioner of coastal resources management whoshall be an employee of the council and who shall not be a member of thecouncil. The commissioner shall coordinate and liaison with the director of thedepartment of environmental management, and his or her staff shall be at thesame staff level as the other commissioners and shall work directly with theother commissioners. The commissioner of coastal resources management shall bein the unclassified service. The duties and powers of the commissioner ofcoastal resources management shall be determined by the council. The councilshall not engage a commissioner of coastal resources management for more thanfive (5) years; provided, however, that the council may renew its contract withthe commissioner of coastal resources management.
