SECTION 5-15-16

   § 5-15-16  Towns to which chapterinapplicable. – The provisions of this chapter do not apply to the towns or cities ofNarragansett, New Shoreham, South Kingstown, Westerly or Newport. The town orcity councils of those towns or cities shall be authorized and empowered tomake ordinances licensing itinerant vendors, and those town or city councilsmay prescribe penalties for the violation of those ordinances; provided, thatthe ordinance does not include the licensing of hotels and inns as itinerantvendors; and provided, that the cities and towns mentioned in this section donot issue a license to any vendor without the vendor providing proof that theitinerant vendor has been issued a permit to make sales at retail by thedivision of taxation.
