SECTION 9-26-2

   § 9-26-2  Duty to execute and return writs.– Every officer to whom a writ of execution or other judicial writ shall belawfully issued shall execute the mandates therein contained as commanded, andshall make returns of his or her doings thereon. If he or she is unable toexecute the mandates, he or she shall set forth the reason of his or herfailure in his or her return.
