33-16-8. Director of veterans affairs division--Nomination by commission--Appointment and service. The commissioners shall nominate a director of the Division of Veterans Affairs. The director shall devote full time to the duties of the office and shall be appointed and serve pursuant to § 1-46-7. The director shall be a citizen of the United States and of the State of South Dakota and be a veteran as defined by § 33-17-1. No person who has received a less than honorable discharge or separation from the armed forces of the United States may be appointed as director.
