33-17-39. Honorary high school diploma to be awarded to veterans serving during certain periods. Any honorably discharged veteran as defined in § 33-17-1 may request and shall receive an honorary high school diploma as provided in this section if the veteran served in the armed forces of the United States during the period December 7, 1941, to September 2, 1945, inclusive; during the period June 25, 1950, to July 31, 1953, inclusive; or during the period February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975, inclusive. The school district selected by the eligible veteran shall award an honorary high school diploma to the veteran.
