9-48-12. Service sewer assessments on front foot basis--Calculation and report by engineer. Whenever the construction of a service sewer or sewers shall have been determined upon, the engineer or other competent person shall, unless assessments are determined under § 9-48-11, calculate and report to the governing body the amount to be assessed therefor against each lot or part of lot fronting or abutting upon the street or streets, alley or alleys in which such improvement is to be constructed.
In estimating such assessment he shall divide the total cost of such improvement by the number of feet fronting or abutting upon such street or streets, alley or alleys, and the quotient shall be the amount assessed per front foot upon the property fronting or abutting thereon.
