12-3-501. Adoption and application of standard specifications.
It is the duty of all departments, institutions or agencies of state government to furnish to the commissioner of general services recommended specifications for all materials, equipment and supplies required and to be required by such departments, institutions or agencies. It is the duty of the commissioner of general services to canvass the recommended specifications and either approve or modify the standard specifications so recommended, subject to the policy and criteria of the board of standards. All standard specifications shall remain on file in the office of the department of general services and shall be accessible to the public. Each standard specification adopted for any commodity shall, insofar as possible, fit the requirements of the majority of the state agencies which shall use the same.
