44-12-107. Appointment of members Rules and regulations Reimbursement.

(a)  The members of the board, with the exception of the commissioner, shall be appointed by the governor to serve for a period of four (4) years. In making appointments to the state public livestock market board, the governor shall strive to ensure that at least one (1) person appointed to serve on the board is sixty (60) years of age or older and that at least one (1) person appointed to serve on the board is a member of a racial minority.

(b)  The board is given authority to make all needed bylaws, rules and regulations not inconsistent with the laws of the state, for the proper performance of its duties to carry out the purposes of and to enforce this chapter.

(c)  The board may by regulation provide for a payment of twenty-five dollars ($25.00), per member, for each day any member is officially conducting the board's statutory requirements. In addition thereto, each member shall be reimbursed for travel expenses in accordance with the comprehensive travel regulations as promulgated by the department of finance and administration and approved by the attorney general and reporter.
