49-5-5005. Implementation of career ladder program Expiration of certificates Recertification.
(a) It is the intent of the general assembly to encourage outstanding candidates to enter the field of education by devoting its continuing attention to the improvement of entry level salaries of teachers in public elementary and secondary schools.
(b) As career level certificates in effect on June 13, 1997, or successfully applied for as provided in § 49-5-5004(a)(1) expire, such certificates shall be renewed without any state evaluation for the term of that educator's service in a career ladder position in an LEA.
(c) No provision of subsection (b) or § 49-5-5004(a)(1) shall affect local evaluation procedures for educators.
