49-7-2702. Presence of graduate students required.

(a)  Graduate students in audiology must be present for all educational activities relative to the dispensing of hearing aids and during all evaluations, repairs and post-fitting examinations; provided, that graduate students in audiology do not have to be present when a patient is in need of immediate attention and graduate students are not available.

(b)  (1)  Each postsecondary educational institution subject to subsection (a) shall, by September 15 of each year, provide a written report to the education oversight committee. The report shall contain the following information relative to the prior year:

          (A)  The number of patients served;

          (B)  The number of hearing aids dispensed to patients;

          (C)  The number of patient-contact hours for which students received credit; and

          (D)  The number of billed patient hours.

     (2)  Each postsecondary educational institution shall maintain adequate records so the information in the written reports can be verified by the education oversight committee.
