§ 2943. Commissioner of education for children with disabilities; powers
The commissioner of education, by virtue of his office, shall be commissioner of education for children with disabilities, and, as such commissioner shall superintend all matters relating to the essential early education and special education of children with disabilities, and, in coordination with the departments of mental health and mental retardation and social and rehabilitation services, shall ensure that appropriate educational services are provided to children and adolescents with a severe emotional disturbance in accordance with the provisions of chapter 43 of Title 33 and may accept gifts, grants or other donations to carry out the purpose of this chapter.
