§ 3592 -   Commission

§ 3592. Commission

The commission shall consist of seven members as follows:

(1) Five members to be elected by the Vermont higher education council in such a way as to be broadly representative of all major categories of public and nonpublic higher educational institutions. Initially, two shall hold office for a three-year term, two for a two-year term, and one for a one-year term. Thereafter all such members shall hold office for three-year terms. The term of office shall run from February 1 in every case. The initial five members are to be elected within one month after the passage of sections 3591-3595 of this title.

(2) The governor shall appoint two members who are not officials, board members or trustees of Vermont institutions of higher education and who are broadly representative of the public. Initially, one of these members shall be appointed for a two-year term and the other for a one-year term. Thereafter each member shall be appointed for a two-year term. The term of office shall run from February 1 in every case. (1964, No. 10 (Sp. Sess.), § 2, eff. March 5, 1964.)
