§ 12c. Rest area advisory committee

(a) There is created a joint rest area advisory committee composed of the chairs of the house and senate committees on appropriations, the house and senate committees on transportation, and the house and senate committees on institutions.

(b) The committee may meet during adjournment for official duties. Members shall be entitled to compensation and reimbursement pursuant to 2 V.S.A. § 406. The committee shall have the assistance of the staff of the legislative council and the joint fiscal office.

(c) The committee shall provide legislative oversight of the construction and operation of rest areas, information centers, and welcome centers. The advisory committee shall provide advice to the committees on transportation and institutions on capital construction costs and advice to the committees on appropriations on operating budgets. The secretary of transportation and the commissioner of buildings and general services shall report to the advisory committee upon request. (Added 2005, No. 175 (Adj. Sess.), § 59.)
