§ 7.03 -   Oath; bond

§ 17-7.3. Nomination of incumbent

No person may be permitted to seek the nomination for the office of mayor or councilor while a member of the city council, unless his or her present term of office expires on or before the annual March meeting next to be held. If a member of the city council resigns to seek another office on said city council, the resignation must be filed with the city council and become effective at least ten days prior to the last day of filing nomination papers of candidates for the offices of mayor or councilor. In special elections called for the purpose of filling a vacancy or vacancies on the city council who wishes to become a candidate for an office to be filled at a special city election must first resign the present office at least ten days before the last day for filing nomination papers for said special election.
