§ 10.1-416. Rivanna State Scenic River.

A. The river, stream, or waterway known as the Rivanna from the base of theSouth Fork Rivanna River reservoir to the junction of the Rivanna with theJames River, a distance of approximately 46 miles, is hereby designated asthe Rivanna Scenic River, a component of the Virginia Scenic Rivers System.

B. No dam or other structure impeding the natural flow of the river shall beconstructed, operated, or maintained unless specifically authorized by an actof the General Assembly.

C. Nothing in this section shall preclude the Commonwealth or a localgoverning body from constructing, reconstructing, or performing necessarymaintenance on any road or bridge.
