10.1-573 - Immunity from prosecution for trespass.

§ 10.1-573. Immunity from prosecution for trespass.

No criminal action for trespass shall lie against the Board, any agent oremployee of the Department, or any agent or employee of the United StatesDepartment of Agriculture or Virginia Polytechnic Institute and StateUniversity, because of the mere entry upon the lands of any person for thepurpose of performing duties in conjunction with the conduct and completionof the Virginia portion of the National Cooperative Soil Survey, providedthat the agent or employee made a reasonable effort to obtain the consent ofthe owner of the land prior to his entry.
