§ 15.2-616. Departments of the county.

The activities or functions of the county shall, with the exceptions hereinprovided, be distributed among the following departments:

1. Department of finance.

2. Department of public works.

3. Department of social services.

4. Department of education.

5. Department of public health.

The board may establish any additional departments it deems necessary andappropriate.

In addition, any activity which is unassigned by this form of countyorganization and government shall, upon recommendation of the county manager,be assigned by the board to the appropriate department. The board mayfurther, upon recommendations of the county manager, reassign, transfer orcombine any county functions, activities or departments.
