§ 15.2-977. Green Roof Incentive Programs.

A. For purposes of this section, "green roof" means a roof or partiallycovered roof consisting of plants, soil, or another lightweight growingmedium that is installed on top of a waterproof membrane and designed inaccordance with the Virginia Stormwater Management Program's standards andspecifications for green roofs, as set forth in the Virginia BMPClearinghouse.

B. Any locality may establish a rate incentive program designed to encouragethe use of green roofs in the construction and remodeling of residential andcommercial buildings. If established, the incentives shall be based on thepercentage of stormwater runoff reduction the green roof provides.
