§ 16.1-69.40:3. Financial responsibilities of judges and clerks.

The judge of each district court shall have management responsibility overthe collection and distribution of all funds received by such court;provided, however, that no judge or clerk shall incur personal liability fora shortage in such funds unless such shortage is a result of his negligence,failure to exercise appropriate supervision or intentional misconduct.
