§ 17.1-285. Payment of excess.

A. The Commonwealth shall be entitled to one-third of the excess feescollected by clerks as required to be reported under § 17.1-283 and thegoverning body of the county or city shall be entitled to two-thirds of theexcess fees collected unless otherwise provided by law. The CompensationBoard shall determine on an annual basis by June 30 of each year the methodsby which excess fees shall be disbursed.

B. All of the excess paid into the state treasury by the clerks of theSupreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals shall be retained therein.
