§ 18.2-2. Effect of repeal of Title 18.1 and enactment of this title.

The repeal of Title 18.1, effective as of October 1, 1975, shall not affectany act or offense done or committed, or any penalty or forfeiture incurred,or any right established, accrued or accruing on or before such date, or anyprosecution, suit or action pending on that day. Except as herein otherwiseprovided, neither the repeal of Title 18.1 nor the enactment of this titleshall apply to offenses committed prior to October 1, 1975, and prosecutionsfor such offenses shall be governed by the prior law, which is continued ineffect for that purpose. For the purposes of this section, an offense wascommitted prior to October 1, 1975, if any of the essential elements of theoffense occurred prior thereto.
