§ 18.2-214.1. Penalties for failure to report removal or alteration ofidentification or serial number on business machines.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, association, or corporationregularly engaged in the business of repairing, selling, renting or leasingof business machines to fail to report any business machine which suchperson, firm, association, or corporation knows has an altered or removedidentification or serial number. The report shall be made to the appropriatelaw-enforcement agency for the county, city, or town where such businessmachine is located.

For purposes of this section, the term "business machines" includes, but isnot limited to, typewriters, adding machines, check-writing machines, cashregisters, calculators, addressing machines, copying, and accountingequipment, and recording equipment.

Any person, firm, association, or corporation violating the provisions ofthis section shall be guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor.
