§ 2.2-2022. Definitions; purpose.

A. As used in this article, unless the context requires a different meaning:

"Costs" means the reasonable and customary charges for goods and servicesincurred or to be incurred in major information technology projects.

"Technology infrastructure" means telecommunications, automated dataprocessing, word processing and management information systems, and relatedinformation, equipment, goods and services.

B. In order for the Commonwealth to take advantage of technologicalapplications in providing services and solving problems of Virginia'scitizens, there is a need to reinvest savings that accrue from increasedusage of technology into new and emerging technologies that will provide forboth greater efficiencies and better responsiveness. The purpose of thisarticle is to create the Virginia Technology Infrastructure Fund (the Fund).The Fund shall make moneys available to state agencies and institutions ofhigher education for major information technology projects.
