§ 2.2-2900. Short title; purpose.

This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Virginia PersonnelAct."

The purpose of this chapter is to ensure for the Commonwealth a system ofpersonnel administration based on merit principles and objective methods ofappointment, promotion, transfer, layoff, removal, discipline, and otherincidents of state employment.
