2.2-4200 - Declaration of policy; discrimination prohibited in awarding contracts; definitions.

§ 2.2-4200. Declaration of policy; discrimination prohibited in awardingcontracts; definitions.

A. It is declared to be the policy of the Commonwealth to eliminate alldiscrimination on account of race, color, religion, sex, or national originfrom the employment practices of the Commonwealth, its agencies, andgovernment contractors.

B. In the awarding of contracts, contracting agencies shall not engage in anunlawful discriminatory practice as defined in § 2.2-3901.

C. As used in this chapter, unless the context requires a different meaning:

"Agency" means any agency or instrumentality, corporate or otherwise, ofthe government of the Commonwealth.

"Contractor" means any individual, partnership, corporation or associationthat performs services for or supplies goods, materials, or equipment to theCommonwealth or any agency thereof.
